Short Bio:

Dean Nelson is a globally recognised travel expert, LGBTQ+ tourism leader, and passionate advocate for inclusive travel. With more than 100 countries and all seven continents stamped into his passport, Dean brings a rare blend of lived experience, destination expertise, and community leadership to every journey he designs.

For over 12 years, Dean produced the award-winning Whistler Pride and Ski Festival, helping shape it into one of the world’s most celebrated LGBTQ+ winter pride events. He is also the co-founder of Mr. Gay World and the founder of Pride House at the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, a groundbreaking initiative that helped advance LGBTQ+ visibility in sport and tourism on the global stage.

Dean’s work has earned international recognition. In 2018, his alma mater, Thompson Rivers University, awarded him an honorary Doctor of Laws in recognition of his contributions to LGBTQ+ tourism, leadership, visibility, and advocacy. He has also received the IGLTA Pioneer Award for his dedication to connecting LGBTQ+ tourism and sport, as well as Travel Gay Canada’s LGBT Tourism Leader of the Year Award.

As a travel advisor, freelance travel writer, destination storyteller, and former brand ambassador for Whistler, British Columbia, Dean specializes in creating meaningful, welcoming, and beautifully tailored travel experiences for LGBTQ+ travellers and allies.

From luxury escapes and cultural deep-dives to Pride celebrations, bucket-list adventures, honeymoons, group travel, and once-in-a-lifetime journeys, Dean curates travel with care, authenticity, and a keen eye for the extraordinary.

Travel should feel exciting, affirming, and effortless. Whether you are dreaming of a fabulous European getaway, a sun-soaked celebration, an African safari, an Antarctica expedition, or your next Pride-filled adventure, Dean is ready to help design a journey that reflects who you are and how you love to travel.
